Questions about hygiene
How often should hygiene be done?
Usually every six months. More often if the gums are prone to inflammation or braces are in place; the doctor sets the schedule after the examination.
Is it painful?
Mostly not. If the teeth are sensitive or there are subgingival deposits, the procedure is done under anaesthesia - it is worth saying so beforehand.
How is complicated hygiene different?
The stages are the same, but there are more deposits and they are denser, so it takes half an hour longer. The doctor sees the difference at the examination.
Why a check-up if nothing hurts?
Caries and gum inflammation start without pain. An hour of examination with a photoprotocol costs less than a single filling in deep caries.
