A digital scan instead of an impression tray: the model appears on the screen at once
A missing tooth changes more than the view
The bite shifts, the neighbouring teeth take on extra load and the bone in the empty place gradually resorbs. An implant transfers the load to the bone and stops that process.
Consultation and plan
Examination, computed tomography, assessment of bone volume and density. The output is a plan with stages, timing and cost - not a vague promise to sort it out on the day.
Implant placement
Under local anaesthesia, 30-60 minutes for one implant. The surgical stage is run by Dr Mykhailo Soltys, 14 years in practice.
Healing
Three to four months in the lower jaw, four to six in the upper. A temporary construction is possible in the smile zone during that time.
Gum former and crown
The gum former shapes a natural contour; after 7-10 days a digital scan is taken and the permanent crown is fixed.
Two systems, four price levels
Straumann is a Swiss system with a lifetime manufacturer warranty. Osstem is Korean, less expensive, with the same placement protocol. The difference is in the material and the warranty, not in how the operation goes.

Questions before implantation
How long from implant to crown?
Three to six months on average: that is how long integration into the bone takes. In more complex cases the timing differs, and the doctor names it after the tomography.
Is it painful?
The operation is done under local anaesthesia, so there is no pain during it. Moderate discomfort afterwards is possible and is handled with painkillers.
What if there is not enough bone?
The bone volume is augmented. The clinic uses the Osstem Hiossen CAS-KIT, which improves placement accuracy and shortens the operation.
How long does an implant last?
An implant is designed for a very long term. The crown on it is usually replaced after roughly 10-15 years, depending on load and hygiene.
Why is an implant better than a bridge?
A bridge requires preparation of healthy neighbouring teeth, while an implant takes the place of the missing one and preserves the bone. Still, the choice depends on the situation.
